How to find serial number remotely

Servers, workstations purchased from manufactures like DELL, Lenovo, etc comes with a serial number(or service tag) and a model name. If you are not able to read the serialnumber, then you can retrieve your serial number via command prompt. You need to use the Windows Management Instrumentation Command, the WMI command-line (WMIC) utility provides a command-line interface for WMI. WMIC is compatible with existing shells and utility commands.

To retrieve serial number of the computer run the following command:

wmic bios get serialnumber

To retrieve model name of the computer run the following command:

wmic csproduct get name

    wmic /node:servername csproduct get name

    Get the model of a remote server or computer!
